Zinacantepec reports 16% reduction in crime incidence

Zinacantepec has reported a 16 percent reduction in crime incidence, improving its state ranking from 14th in 2022 to 51st in 2026. This shift is attributed to a security strategy focused on prevention, institutional coordination, and increased police presence.

Key components of the strategy include the execution of 12,653 operations this year to reinforce surveillance in priority areas. The municipality has also invested in technology, installing 1,150 panic buttons in commercial establishments and incorporating a tactical drone for surveillance and operational support.

Additionally, the local government is prioritizing the professionalization of its 155 public security officers through training in human rights, the accusatory penal system, and prevention of torture. Preventive programs have also been implemented in educational institutions, reaching over 4,000 students and 15 teachers to address topics such as social media safety and addiction prevention.
