Zinder launches biometric national identity card enrollment

Authorities in the Zinder region of Niger have officially launched the enrollment process for new biometric national identity cards (CNIB). The initiative, presided over by Regional Secretary General Abou Idrissa, aims to modernize citizen identification and transition toward digitized public services.

The new biometric cards are intended to increase security and reduce fraud, falsification, and identity theft. To facilitate access, enrollment is being conducted at local police stations, allowing citizens to avoid traveling to a single centralized site.

To apply, citizens must provide a birth certificate, a certificate of nationality, and three identity photographs. Two service options are available: a standard procedure costing 4,500 FCFA, and an express service costing 9,000 FCFA that guarantees delivery within 72 hours. Payments can be made through various mobile money and transfer services, including Nita, Amana, and Airtel Money.
