Zinder launches teacher training entrance exams for 605 candidates

The Governor of the Zinder region, Colonel Massalatchi Mahaman Sani, officially launched the entrance examinations for the École Normale d’Instituteurs (ENI) at the Askia Mohamed Normal School. The testing process serves four regions: Zinder, Diffa, Maradi, and Agadez.

A total of 605 candidates are participating in the exams, which cover general culture, mathematics, and French. Of these, 544 candidates are from the Zinder region alone. There is a notable gender distribution in the Zinder contingent, with 485 or 486 female candidates compared to approximately 58 to 59 male candidates.

Authorities have framed this competitive examination as a reform intended to combat fraud and favoritism in teacher recruitment. Successful candidates will undergo one year of theoretical training followed by four practical internships. To achieve final certification (CEFEN), students must complete a year of field practice and pass a final examination before a specialized jury.
