Zinedine Zidane: 25 years since Real Madrid debut

Real Madrid is honoring Zinedine Zidane as it marks the 25th anniversary of his official debut with the club. On August 19, 2001, the French midfielder made his first appearance in a Spanish Super Cup match against Real Zaragoza.

At the time, Zidane was the most expensive player in football history following a 75 million euro transfer from Juventus facilitated by club president Florentino Perez. The match at La Romareda ended in a 1-1 draw, with Flavio Conceicao scoring for Madrid and Yordi scoring for Zaragoza. Zidane played 80 minutes and recorded his first assist during the match.

Zidane's tenure at Real Madrid included 227 appearances and 49 goals, during which he won numerous titles, including the Champions League, La Liga, and multiple Super Cups. He later returned to the club to serve as manager, leading them to three consecutive Champions League titles.
