Ziniaré modern slaughterhouse project expected by late 2026

A modern slaughterhouse in Ziniaré, Burkina Faso, is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The project, estimated to cost over 2 billion FCFA, aims to improve slaughtering conditions and enhance the value of animal products and by-products.

Minister of Agriculture Ismaël Sombié recently inspected the construction site to monitor progress. Once operational, the facility will have the capacity to process 50 cattle and 100 small ruminants daily. The infrastructure includes wastewater treatment systems, a lagoon, a biodigester area, waste treatment equipment, and a solar field. The project is part of a broader effort to develop the livestock-meat sector following bans on live cattle exports.
