Zion Suzuki returns to full training with Japan after injury

Aston Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki has returned to full training with the Japan national team following a rib injury that sidelined him during recent friendly matches. The 24-year-old, who joined Villa from Parma for approximately €30m, is expected to be available for club duties following the international break.

Suzuki’s recent performances have sparked significant debate regarding the top goalkeepers in the Premier League. Following a standout performance in Villa’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham, commentator Adrian Durham suggested Suzuki is “miles better” than Arsenal’s David Raya, praising his shot-stopping and distribution.

However, opinions remain divided. Former Aston Villa senior scout Brian King offered a more critical view, comparing Suzuki’s playing style to Andre Onana and suggesting that while he makes spectacular saves, he remains prone to errors and must still prove he can reach the top tier of the league.
