Japanese footballers see mixed results in Premier League and Belgian Pro League
Japanese footballers are seeing varied results in European leagues. In the Premier League, Aston Villa goalkeeper Sion Suzuki has established himself as a regular starter, earning praise from manager Unai Emery for his distribution and shot-stopping abilities. However, concerns have been raised regarding his potential absence during the upcoming Asian Cup, which could see him miss up to seven matches.
In the Belgian Pro League, Sint-Truiden suffered a 3-4 defeat against KV Mechelen, marking their third consecutive loss. The match was particularly difficult for Japanese defenders Kota Takai and Shogo Taniguchi, both of whom recorded own goals. Takai, on loan from Tottenham, made his first start for the club during the match.
Other Japanese players in the Premier League are also finding their footing, including Daichi Kamata, who has become a central figure for Crystal Palace, and Ao Tanaka, who has secured a starting position at Leeds.
