ZIPAIR opens 2027 flight sales as JAL and Yamato end cargo operations
ZIPAIR has announced the commencement of ticket sales for its Summer 2027 schedule, covering flights between Narita and both Los Angeles and Bangkok. During the period from March 28 to August 31, 2027, both routes are scheduled to operate daily. The airline is offering various fare tiers, including a special 'U6 Standard' rate for children aged six and under.
Separately, Japan Airlines (JAL), Spring Japan, and Yamato Holdings have decided to end the operation of their dedicated domestic cargo aircraft by June 2027. The three Airbus A321-200P2F freighter aircraft, which began service in April 2024 to address logistics challenges such as the '2024 problem' and declining truck transport capacity, will be retired. The companies cited rising transport costs due to the weak yen and high fuel prices as reasons for the shift, stating that utilizing existing passenger flight networks is a more sustainable method for maintaining stable transport services.
