Zita Koncsek Vadnai, social services leader in Bihor, dies
Zita Koncsek Vadnai, a prominent figure in the social services and public life of Bihor County, Romania, has passed away at the age of 73 or 74. Her death was announced by the UDMR (Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania) Bihor county organization.
Koncsek Vadnai held several significant leadership roles throughout her career. She served as the mayor of Cetariu (Hegyközcsatár) from 1989 to 1996 and later led the Bihor County General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) from 2005 to 2009. Following this, she headed the Oradea Social Administration from 2009 until her retirement in 2012.
Her professional legacy includes the restructuring of disability centers, the opening of new facilities in Ciutelec and Remeți, and the completion of the ‘Irene Rowen’ Recreation Center for Children and Youth. In Oradea, she was instrumental in establishing Hungarian-language nurseries and implementing student health evaluation programs. Even after retirement, she remained active in community leadership, serving with various foundations and cultural organizations.
