Ziver Akın Mosque Roof Corn Seedling Attracts Attention in Ordu, Turkey
A corn seedling sprouted and grew to about 1.5 metres on the roof of Ziver Akın Camii in the Altınordu district of Ordu province, Turkey. The plant emerged without any planting, watering or fertilising; investigators say a crow dropped a corn kernel into a rain‑water pool on the roof, where it germinated and thrived.
Local resident Cüneyt Altaş noted the unusual growth, describing it as a sign of nature’s resilience and saying the community is watching to see if the stalk will produce corn. The phenomenon has become a point of curiosity for neighbourhood residents and local officials alike.
