Ziya Öztürkler meets with Turkish Naval Academy students

Speaker of the Assembly Ziya Öztürkler received students from the Turkish Naval Academy who are conducting advanced maritime training off the coast of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

During the meeting, Öztürkler addressed a recent shipwreck near Girne, noting that the tragedy has deeply affected the Turkish Cypriot people. He expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and shared his hopes for the swift recovery of missing persons.

Öztürkler highlighted that Turkey has provided significant support to the TRNC since the onset of the incident, mobilizing national resources to assist in search and rescue operations. He extended his gratitude to Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu and the Turkish Armed Forces for their contributions. Emphasizing the unpredictable and dangerous nature of the sea, he stressed the vital importance of strict maritime safety measures to prevent future fatal accidents.
