Zizou Bergs upsets Carlos Alcaraz at ATP Shanghai Masters

Belgian tennis player Zizou Bergs secured a major career victory at the ATP Shanghai Masters by eliminating second seed Carlos Alcaraz in the third round. Bergs won the match in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4), capitalizing on the Spaniard's inconsistent rhythm.

Alcaraz's unexpected exit has significant implications for the ATP rankings. With Alcaraz eliminated, Alexander Zverev has secured the number one spot on the ATP rankings for the end of the 2026 season. Zverev, who won titles at Roland Garros and the US Open this year, becomes the first German player to finish a season ranked world number one.

Other notable results from the tournament include victories for Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Casper Ruud, while Alexander Zverev also advanced following a three-set win over Quentin Halys.
