Zizur Mayor radar speed control faces signage overhaul request

The municipal council of Zizur Mayor has asked the Government of Navarra to review and improve the vertical signage of the speed‑control radar installed on the A‑12 highway. Councilor for Citizen Security Andoni Serrano said the radar, placed in July, aims to prevent accidents on a stretch that has suffered several serious crashes. Police reports indicate the device is already catching many speed violations, surpassing the radar on the A‑15 in Lekunberri, though it remains in a trial phase and no official fines have been issued yet. The council submitted a police‑prepared report and requested the traffic service to consider reorganising the signs to maximise the radar’s preventive effect.

The request stresses that the current signage interferes with driver visibility, reducing the clarity of the warning. Officials stress that the goal is not to question the radar’s presence but to enhance its efficacy in protecting road users.
