Pirovac fatal accident kills Zlatko Plazonjić

A fatal traffic accident occurred on the D8 state road in Pirovac around 1:35 AM, resulting in the death of 53-year-old Zlatko Plazonjić. Plazonjić was a well-known figure in Zadar, serving as the owner of the D8 Rock Cafe and vice president of the Moto klub Beštije.

According to the Šibenik-Knin Police Administration, the accident was caused by a 34-year-old driver from Virovitica who was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The driver failed to adjust speed to road conditions and attempted to overtake multiple vehicles across a continuous line. In an attempt to avoid a collision with oncoming traffic, the driver swerved, striking the rear of Plazonjić’s vehicle. The force of the impact caused Plazonjić’s car to leave the road and hit a street light pole. The intoxicated driver then lost control and struck a third vehicle driven by an 18-year-old.

Police are conducting a criminal investigation into the incident. The 34-year-old driver was transported to the General Hospital in Šibenik for treatment.
