Özlem Çerçioğlu ranked most successful metropolitan mayor in survey

A recent survey conducted between July 25 and July 31, 2026, has ranked Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu as the most successful metropolitan mayor in Turkey. Based on the evaluations of 13,600 participants, Çerçioğlu achieved a success rate of 59.4%.

The research assessed the performance of 25 metropolitan mayors. Following Çerçioğlu, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer ranked second with a 57.5% success rate, and Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fırat Görgel ranked third with 57.1%.

The top five rankings are completed by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin in fourth place (56.9%) and Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın in fifth place (56.1%).
