ZMSTAM Congress addresses nursing reforms and working conditions

The sixth International Congress of the Association of Nurses, Technicians and Midwives of Macedonia (ZMSTAM) was held in Ohrid to discuss the future of the profession and necessary healthcare reforms. Key topics included the need to align health policies with European directives and the importance of retaining medical staff.

Participants emphasized that improving salaries and working conditions is essential to motivate young professionals to enter the field. Discussions also focused on redefining professional roles, utilizing digitalization to reduce administrative burdens, and ensuring that career advancement is based on competencies and knowledge rather than formal education or workplace location. The congress highlighted the need for nurses and midwives to be more actively involved in creating the policies that affect their profession.
