Znojmo and Břeclav residents cite social issues as top concerns
Recent public surveys in the Czech towns of Znojmo and Břeclav indicate that social issues involving unadaptable or homeless populations are the primary concerns for local residents.
In Znojmo, 78% of survey respondents identified problems with unadaptable residents as the city's biggest issue, followed by parking shortages and a lack of affordable housing. To address these recurring problems, the city has implemented over twenty measures, including increased municipal police presence, expanded camera surveillance, and a new mobile camera system. The city has also established a dedicated email address for citizens to report long-term disturbances and created a multi-agency platform involving police, social services, and schools to manage minority-related issues.
In Břeclav, 53% of voters cited unadaptable people on the streets as the most significant problem, far outpacing concerns regarding housing shortages and parking issues near the railway station. Residents reported concerns regarding public safety and order, particularly involving individuals under the influence of alcohol in high-traffic areas like the pedestrian zone and station surroundings. Local police have stated they are working to move problematic individuals out of these frequent zones using crime prevention assistants and surveillance systems.
