Zocdoc acquires Sohar Health in first corporate acquisition
Zocdoc has completed its first corporate acquisition in its nearly 20-year history, purchasing the New York-based insurance technology startup Sohar Health. The deal officially closed on October 2, 2026, and was announced on October 14, 2026.
Sohar Health specializes in automated benefits verification, coverage discovery, and patient financial clearance. The acquisition is intended to transform Zocdoc from a consumer appointment marketplace into an omnichannel healthcare access infrastructure layer. By integrating Sohar’s technology, Zocdoc aims to reduce upstream billing friction and errors that lead to claim denials.
Sohar Health will continue to operate under its existing brand and maintain its current client book, including serving behavioral health networks such as BetterHelp, Headway, Rula, and Talkiatry. Zocdoc confirmed that the transaction will not result in any workforce reductions or team eliminations. Financial terms and the specific valuation of the deal were not disclosed.
