Zocdoc survey: 1 in 5 patients hide AI health use from doctors

A national survey commissioned by Zocdoc involving 1,000 patients and 1,000 healthcare providers reveals that more than 20% of patients have hidden their use of artificial intelligence for health advice from their doctors.

The study highlights a generational divide, noting that Gen Z patients are twice as likely as other age groups to conceal AI use, with 77% stating they have or would hide it from a provider. Primary reasons for this secrecy include fears of being judged, disapproved of, or dismissed by medical professionals.

While 88% of patients report feeling confident after consulting AI, healthcare providers expressed caution, with 83% stating they have had to correct AI-generated misinformation. Despite these concerns, 77% of providers feel positively about patients using AI for health, and 60% indicated they would prefer patients consult AI rather than using Google.
