Zoho's Arattai Launches Aadhaar‑Based Identity Verification in India
Zoho Corporation’s messaging and VoIP app Arattai has added an optional Aadhaar‑enabled identity verification layer aimed at reducing impersonation and spam on its platform. Users who verify through the Aadhaar app receive a permanent green badge that signals an authentic account, while the verification process remains voluntary and Arattai does not store any Aadhaar data. The feature is available on Android, iOS, Windows and Mac devices.
The new layer builds on Arattai’s existing badge system—standard verified profiles carry a blue badge and official government accounts a grey badge—to further protect users. In addition, the app introduced several privacy enhancements, including end‑to‑end encryption for personal chats and broadcasts, encrypted cloud backups via Google Drive and iCloud, and a “Hide Phone Number” option for public groups. Arattai, built entirely in India, supports ten Indian languages and positions itself as a privacy‑first messaging service without invasive tracking or targeted advertising.
