Zohran Mamdani faces divide in NYC favorability polls

While Mamdani holds a 69% favorability rating among New York City voters—with particularly strong support among Black and younger demographics—he faces intense disapproval from Jewish constituents. The poll indicates that 66% of Jewish voters hold an unfavorable view of the mayor.

This political friction is linked to Mamdani’s rhetoric regarding Israel. During a recent meeting organized by the Mayor’s Office to Combat Antisemitism, Rabbi Rick Jacobs, president of the Union for Reform Judaism, expressed concerns that the mayor’s language has crossed into the “diabolization of Israel.” Jewish leaders have criticized Mamdani’s descriptions of Israeli leadership, which have contributed to rising tensions within the city’s Jewish community.
