Zohran Mamdani look-alike contest draws hundreds in New York City
Hundreds of people gathered near Washington Square Park in New York City on Sunday to participate in a look-alike contest for Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The event, sponsored by the social media app Sonder, featured nine participants attempting to mimic the democratic socialist mayor's style, including specific clothing and facial hair.
Amadeo Fusca was named the winner after receiving the most applause following a question about favorite pizza. Fusca, who wore a New York Knicks jersey under a suit, received a $100 prize.
The gathering originally took place in the park, but police directed the crowd to move to the immediate vicinity because they did not have the required permits. This event follows a similar gathering held in Brooklyn during Mamdani's 2025 mayoral campaign.
