Zolani Tete murder bail judgment postponed over new ballistic report

The bail application judgment for two men accused of murdering former boxing champion Zolani Tete has been postponed to Friday. The Mdantsane Magistrates’ Court decision was delayed following the introduction of a new ballistic report by the State.

State prosecutor Thango Phangalele informed Magistrate Anton Pretorius that the report, which was received after the State had closed its case, links two recovered firearms to the killing of Tete and another victim. The suspects, Siphesihle Kolisa and Athandwa Gangala, are alleged to be the hitmen involved in the shooting.

The defense has strongly objected to the late introduction of the report. Advocate Ayabonga Kampi, representing alleged mastermind Uzuzole Goqwana, raised concerns regarding procedural irregularities and stated he does not consent to the report being treated as admissible evidence.
