Zoltán Tarr outlines new support policy for Hungarians abroad in Cluj-Napoca

Zoltán Tarr, the Minister responsible for Social Relations and Culture, addressed the Hungarian community during a public meeting in Cluj-Napoca. He outlined the Tisza Party government's approach to supporting Hungarians living outside of Hungary, emphasizing a policy of responsible use of taxpayer funds.

Tarr stated that while the government intends to support these communities, it aims to avoid using such aid as a political weapon. He criticized previous support models that were presented as favors from the former administration, asserting instead that funding, such as the 110 million forint grant for the Szilágyszeg Reformed Church, belongs to the Hungarian taxpayers and serves the community's needs rather than political interests.

The Minister emphasized that the government does not intend to interfere in the political representation, media, or cultural choices of the Hungarian communities in Transylvania and other regions. He noted that the current political shift provides an opportunity to correct past mistakes in Hungarian-Hungarian relations.
