Zoltán Tarr pledges partnership with Reformed Church

Zoltán Tarr, the Hungarian Minister responsible for social relations and culture, met with József Steinbach, the president of the Synod of the Reformed Church, to establish a partnership based on regular dialogue.

The meeting focused on creating a relationship where the state supports and coordinates matters affecting churches without intervening in their internal affairs. The parties agreed to hold monthly meetings to discuss various issues, including the financing of religious higher education, social and educational institutions, and the management of church-held properties.

Specific topics addressed included the funding of two Reformed hospitals, the continuation of the university town project, and the organization of the Csillagpont festival. Minister Tarr stated that the government aims to create a predictable and long-term sustainable system for church financing and emphasized that the state does not intend to exert political influence or impose expectations on religious communities.
