Zona da Mata ornamental fish farming sector seeks to strengthen productive chain

Stakeholders in the ornamental fish farming sector of Brazil’s Zona da Mata region are working to professionalize and organize their productive chain. During a meeting at the Muriaé Rural Producers Union, representatives from various institutions, producers, and entities discussed strategies to strengthen the industry.

Key objectives include the regularization of properties, strengthening sanitary security, and expanding the sector's presence in the national market. Discussions also focused on standardizing transportation, increasing technical assistance, and encouraging certification. The group has defined proposals to be presented to the Ministry of Fishing and Aquaculture.

Additionally, Sebrae/MG is conducting a survey to document the development of the regional ornamental fish farming hub. This study aims to create a dossier showcasing the region's success to serve as a reference for other states and productive chains in Brazil.
