Zondacrypto head Kral interrogated abroad, lawyers Giertych and Dubois present

Przemysław Kral, former president of the cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto (formerly BitBay), was taken to a secret interview outside Poland in a hotel located in a Persian Gulf state. The meeting involved prosecutor Marek Wełna and two prominent lawyers, Roman Giertych and Jacek Dubois, whose participation has raised procedural concerns.

Polish law requires crown‑witness interrogations to occur in a designated secure office; holding the interview abroad is deemed irregular. Kral is seeking crown‑witness status, but a court must first decide whether to bring charges. No formal accusations have been filed, according to prosecutor Michał Binkiewicz. The investigation, which also examines allegations of fraud and money laundering, is being coordinated by the Katowice Regional Prosecutor’s Office, with Justyna Grzesiak now leading the case. Estonia has revoked Zondacrypto’s operating licence, and prosecutors plan to merge two separate inquiries into a single proceeding under the national prosecution office.

Both Giertych and Dubois declined to comment, stating they would not provide any remarks on the matter.
