Zondacrypto scandal impacts Polish political landscape

Recent public opinion polls in Poland indicate significant political fallout following the collapse of the Zondacrypto cryptocurrency exchange. According to a survey by IBRiS for Rzeczpospolita, 53% of respondents identify Law and Justice (PiS) as the party most burdened by the scandal, followed by Konfederacja at 24.8% and Civic Coalition (KO) at 22.2%.

The controversy involves alleged political connections to the failed exchange. Reports mention potential links between PiS MP Michał Moskal and the exchange's president, Przemysław Kral, as well as witness testimony suggesting Zbigniew Ziobro may have promised legal protection to an individual associated with the venture.

Furthermore, a United Surveys poll for Wirtualna Polska reveals strong public opposition to politicians linked to Zondacrypto running in the 2027 parliamentary elections. Approximately 68.8% of respondents believe such individuals should not be on electoral lists, with 51.1% expressing a definitive “no.” This sentiment is particularly strong among supporters of the governing coalition, where 88% oppose the candidacy of those with ties to the exchange.
