Zonguldak fishermen protest bureaucratic delays over idle facilities
Fishermen in Zonguldak have issued a formal protest regarding bureaucratic obstacles that have left newly constructed facilities idle for approximately 1.5 years. Representing the local tradespeople, Bayram Yılmaz stated that a jurisdictional dispute between the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) and the Zonguldak Municipality is preventing the use of these structures.
Yılmaz emphasized that the delay is causing significant economic hardship for local fishermen, some of whom have struggled to earn a living for several years. Furthermore, he noted that the neglected public area on Istasyon Street has become a source of social and environmental issues, being used inappropriately as a tavern and toilet.
The fishermen are calling on the Zonguldak Governor, the Mayor, and local members of parliament to resolve the impasse by either completing the revitalization of the area or removing the structures, rather than allowing the situation to persist.
