Zonta Club donates 15,000 euro medical device to Veliko Tarnovo hospital

The Zonta Club of Veliko Tarnovo has donated a high-tech LigaSure electrosurgical system, valued at 15,000 euros, to the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Dr. Stefan Cherkezov Hospital in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria.

The funds for the equipment were raised through two consecutive editions of the “White Summer” charity campaign held in 2024 and 2025. The LigaSure system is designed for the coagulation and cutting of blood vessels and tissues, supporting both laparoscopic and open surgical procedures.

Associate Professor Svetlozar Stoykov, head of the department, noted that the device is expected to reduce surgical intervention times by at least half, allowing for more efficient and less invasive treatments for patients. Zonta Club President Nadezhda Kostadinova stated that supporting modern medical care for women and girls remains a long-term priority for the organization.
