Zoo Leipzig announces species conservation discovery days
Zoo Leipzig has announced its ‘Entdeckertage Artenschutz’ (Species Conservation Discovery Days), scheduled for August 29 and 30, 2026. The event aims to highlight the zoo’s role in global biodiversity through international breeding programs and habitat protection projects.
Key conservation efforts discussed include primate research in North Vietnam, field hamster protection in Central Germany, and upcoming initiatives in Chilean Patagonia to protect species such as the river otter and the Darwin's frog. Various partner organizations, including the Rhino and Forest Fund e. V., ZGAP, and Orang-Utan in Not e. V., will participate to provide insights into endangered species protection.
