Zoo Leipzig launches public vote to name newborn giraffe bull

Zoo Leipzig is holding a naming contest for its five‑week‑old male Rothschild giraffe. More than 1,700 suggestions were received; the five finalists are Kato, Jaro, Nkosi, Jabari and Sima. Voting is open on the zoo’s website until 11 August 2026, with the winning name to be announced on 14 August at 13:15 in the Kiwara Savanna.

The young giraffe can be seen daily during opening hours (09:00‑19:00) in the Kiwara Savanna or the hoof‑animal house. The contest is part of the zoo’s summer programme, which also features puppet theatre, cabaret and family theatre for visitors.
