Zooey Deschanel describes dangerous exhaustion during ‘New Girl’ filming

Actress Zooey Deschanel has described the production schedule of the comedy series ‘New Girl’ as ‘dangerous’ due to extreme exhaustion. During a recent appearance on the ‘We’re Here to Help’ podcast with former co-star Jake Johnson, Deschanel detailed the intense hours required during the show's seven-season run between 2011 and 2018.

Deschanel noted that the workload often left her struggling to stay awake while driving home, sometimes requiring her mother to stay awake during the night to talk to her so she would not fall asleep. She also recalled instances where overtiredness affected her performance, such as crying easily during scenes or losing her voice due to a demanding press and event schedule.
