Zoológico Tamatán attracts over 8,000 visitors in Tamaulipas

The Tamatán Zoo in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, has recorded over 8,000 visitors during the current vacation period. Luis Eduardo García Reyes, head of the Tamaulipas Parks and Biodiversity Commission, noted that visitors include families from Ciudad Victoria, other municipalities within the state, and neighboring regions.

In addition to recreational activities and summer courses for minors, the Commission is managing several conservation initiatives. These include monitoring the presence of monarch butterflies in the municipality of Hidalgo and concluding a season of protection efforts for sea turtles, specifically Kemp's ridley and green turtles. Regarding a lion recently located in Matamoros, officials confirmed the animal is under care at UMA Ecopark while coordinating with the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa).

Furthermore, the zoo is planning a significant species exchange project. This initiative aims to incorporate new animals to enhance the visitor experience and strengthen biodiversity conservation efforts. The project is currently under analysis and may involve agreements with various national zoos.
