Zoomlion Ghana backs nationwide flood clean‑up effort

Zoomlion Ghana Limited pledged to support the government’s nationwide clean‑up exercise announced after recent flooding that affected several communities, especially in the Greater Accra Region. The waste‑management firm said it will deploy personnel and equipment for desilting, refuse evacuation and public‑education campaigns, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama’s directive to clear structures obstructing waterways and improve flood risk mitigation.

Traders at Madina Zongo Junction in Accra appealed to the government to reinstate Zoomlion’s waste‑collection contract, arguing that the lack of regular collection services hampers sanitation in busy markets and densely populated areas. They urged the provision of vehicles to ensure that waste removed during clean‑up activities is promptly collected and disposed of, emphasizing Zoomlion’s historic role in supporting community sanitation over the past 17 years.
