Zoomlion introduces high-power hybrid diesel-electric tractors
Chinese manufacturer Zoomlion is expanding its agricultural footprint with the introduction of hybrid diesel-electric machinery. The company has launched the DX Series, a 525 kilowatt (700 horsepower) articulated hybrid tractor, which is positioned as one of the most powerful hybrid tractors in the world.
The hybrid engine utilizes a Yuchai diesel motor to charge a generator that powers the electric drive and a 10C battery system. This design includes a booster battery to increase power capacity at speeds up to 40 kilometres per hour. According to the manufacturer, the hybrid technology offers fuel efficiency improvements of 25% to 30% compared to mainstream competitors. In Russian trials, the hybrid header demonstrated 30% lower fuel consumption than equivalent major-brand harvesters.
Zoomlion, which originated as a construction and earthmoving equipment firm in Hunan province, also produces a wide range of conventional diesel tractors, cane harvesters, and spray drones. The DX Series is expected to retail for approximately $1.2 million in the Australian market.
