Zoomlion launches nationwide disinfection campaign in Ghana
Zoomlion Ghana Limited has launched a nationwide disinfection and disinfestation campaign across several regions in Ghana to mitigate the risk of disease outbreaks during the peak rainy season. Working in collaboration with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), the company is targeting high-risk areas to prevent the spread of cholera, malaria, typhoid, and other waterborne infections.
In the Eastern Region, the company is fumigating all 33 districts following recent flooding. In the Northern Region, the exercise includes the disinfection of markets, schools, health facilities, and storm drains, particularly in the Tamale Metropolis. The Oti Region is also seeing intensified efforts in the Krachi East and West Municipalities to protect residents from contaminants carried by floodwaters.
In the Upper East Region, a week-long campaign is covering all 15 municipalities and districts. While this region was not directly hit by recent southern flooding, officials noted that rainy-season runoff can transport contaminants from areas with poor sanitation into public spaces. The initiative is being conducted as part of Zoomlion’s corporate social responsibility program at no cost to the beneficiary communities.
