Zoomlion launches disinfection exercise in Ghana's Western Region
Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL) has initiated a comprehensive fumigation and disinfection campaign across flood-affected communities in Ghana’s Western Region. The initiative aims to mitigate the risk of disease outbreaks, specifically targeting cholera, typhoid, and malaria, following recent flooding.
The exercise began in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality, with plans to extend coverage to all 14 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies within the region. The program focuses on treating stagnant water bodies and public spaces that serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other disease-carrying organisms.
Patrick Akorful, Zoomlion’s Western Regional Manager, described the operation as a free emergency service intended to safeguard public health. Local residents and assembly members have expressed support for the intervention, noting its importance in addressing mosquito populations and complementing existing sanitation efforts by local authorities.
