Zoopla survey: 44% of UK homeowners conduct property research in secret

A survey commissioned by Zoopla reveals that 44% of UK homeowners living with other adults have conducted property-related research in secret. This includes browsing listings, checking current home values, and researching new areas or affordability without informing their household members.

Among those planning to move within one to three years, 72% have taken such actions privately. Specific behaviors include 27% secretly browsing listings and 21% checking their current home's value. In some cases, 2% of respondents even made property offers without notifying their cohabitants.

Research indicates that Londoners engage in private property research at the highest rate (62%), while Scotland shows the lowest (31%). The study, which surveyed 2,000 people across the UK, also noted that many individuals conduct these searches in common spaces, such as while watching television with housemates, or during commutes and work hours.
