Zoppola hunting reserve: Meat baits containing nails discovered
Meat morsels containing nails were discovered hidden in the vegetation of the Saciletti hunting reserve in Zoppola, Italy. The bait was placed in a manner that made the metal objects difficult to detect before ingestion.
One hunting dog ingested a piece of the meat and fell ill; the animal is currently under veterinary observation. The incident has caused significant concern among hunters and local residents using the area for training and walking.
The Italian Animalist Party of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the association Animal Pride Defending have issued a joint condemnation of the act. They emphasized that the danger extends beyond domestic and hunting dogs to include local wildlife. The organizations are calling on authorities to conduct immediate inspections of the area to identify and remove all remaining hazardous bait to ensure the safety of both animals and people.
