Zoran Dimitrovski calls for European dialogue with Bulgaria
During a meeting of foreign ministers within the Berlin Process in Pržno, Montenegro, North Macedonia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Zoran Dimitrovski, emphasized the necessity of European integration for the stability and security of the Western Balkans.
Dimitrovski stated that the EU enlargement policy is vital for democratic transformation and the rule of law. Addressing relations with Bulgaria, he called for a “European, rather than a medieval dialogue,” advocating for discussions focused on the future rather than historical narratives. He argued that bilateral issues should not obstruct the path to EU membership, as such obstacles weaken the European perspective and the overall resilience of the region.
The meeting included foreign ministers from the Western Balkans and EU member states, alongside representatives from the European Commission and the Regional Cooperation Council, focusing on regional connectivity and economic development.
