Zoran Milanović warns of year-long delay in Croatian military development plan

Croatian President and Supreme Commander Zoran Milanović met with military leadership to address delays in national defense planning. Milanović warned that the government is more than a year late in delivering the implementation document for the Long-Term Development Plan of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia (OSRH).

He emphasized that the missing document is critical for coordinating weapon procurement, defining doctrine, structuring units, training personnel, and developing logistics and infrastructure. Milanović reiterated that the primary mission of the armed forces is to protect Croatia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting that the military will only participate in coalitions within the framework of existing international agreements.

During the meeting, Chief of the General Staff, General-Colonel Tihomir Kundid, briefed the President on domestic and international activities, including participation in NATO, EU, and UN missions, as well as current readiness and capability development. Milanović expressed support for modernization and equipment projects previously presented to the Defense Council.
