Zoran Stevanović addresses Mijič scandal, urges prosecutors to present evidence

Zoran Stevanović, president of Slovenia's National Assembly and leader of the Resni.ca party, said he regrets not being able to examine a candidate more thoroughly after the Mijič affair shook his party. He explained that greater discretionary power would have allowed deeper investigation, but practical limits often prevent it. Stevanović called on the prosecutor's office to collect and present its evidence before any potential resignation decision.

In the interview he also commented on issues such as coalition relations, public broadcaster funding, women in politics, his visits to Moscow and Ukraine, and his personal involvement in sport. He declined to answer a specific question about a conviction for threatening safety, but reaffirmed his commitment to responsible, principled conduct and to making the parliament functional and neutral.
