Zoran Stevanović faces scrutiny over unpaid university debts

Zoran Stevanović, the President of the Slovenian National Assembly and leader of the Resnica party, is facing scrutiny over unpaid debts related to his studies at the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Arts. The Faculty confirmed that Stevanović has not fully settled his financial obligations regarding his doctoral studies, which he pursued between 2014 and 2020.

This development follows recent revelations concerning Stevanović’s past, including two legally binding convictions that became public in September. Stevanović has declined to comment on these matters, describing them as “old, closed, and deleted matters that are not related to my political activities.”

The controversy also involves Stevanović’s political colleague, Boris Mijić, who reportedly faced issues regarding unpaid wages to workers and subcontractors in his capacity as a director of various construction companies. While Stevanović claimed to have used personal savings to settle some of Mijić’s debts, the new claims regarding his academic arrears have added to the ongoing scrutiny of his professional and personal history.
