Zoran Stevanović supports referendum on intervention law

Zoran Stevanović, President of the National Assembly and leader of the Resnična Slovenija party, has expressed support for an upcoming referendum regarding an intervention law. Following a Constitutional Court decision allowing the referendum, Stevanović stated he intends to sign in support of the measure.

The proposed law aims to lower food and energy prices, increase wages and pensions, and reduce taxes for entrepreneurs to prevent talent from leaving the country. Stevanović compared the potential reduction of VAT on food to a model used in Japan, arguing that the referendum will serve as a test of "common sense" among the public regarding these economic reliefs.

In separate remarks during a parliamentary break, Stevanović emphasized the need for political accountability, stating that the upcoming period must focus on turning promises into concrete actions and results.
