Zoran Stevanović’s Resnica Party Faces Internal Fallout and Parliamentary Dispute in Slovenia

Visible party member Samo Juršič announced his departure from the Resnica party, saying he was deeply disappointed by the gap between the party’s public promises and its actions. His resignation adds to mounting internal pressure on party leader Zoran Stevanović.

In a televised studio debate, Stevanović clashed with opposition figures over the conduct of Resnica MP Boris Mijič, who is under police investigation for alleged financial irregularities. Levica demanded Mijič’s resignation, which Stevanović rejected, arguing that only voters can remove a directly elected MP. He also accused Levica of spreading “bombs” against Resnica.

Minister for Labour Luko Mesec entered the discussion, accusing Stevanović of evading responsibility and highlighting systemic corruption concerns. Stevanović responded by offering personal funds to help settle workers’ unpaid wages linked to Mijič’s case and proposed a new construction‑law amendment to prevent similar abuses. The debate underscored a broader controversy over political standards in Slovenia.
