Zorggroep Aelsmeer hosts Meals on Wheels Australia visit

A representative from Meals on Wheels Australia recently visited the Netherlands to study various meal provision models for the elderly. During the visit, the organization toured Zorggroep Aelsmeer in Aalsmeer to observe the operations of Tafeltje Dek Je, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Unlike other organizations visited during the trip that utilized chilled or frozen meals, Tafeltje Dek Je prepares fresh meals daily in its own kitchen. A dedicated kitchen team prepares the food, which is then delivered warm to residents by volunteers. This model emphasizes not only fresh nutrition but also personal social contact, as volunteers provide a familiar face and take time for brief interactions at the door. The visit served as an opportunity for Zorggroep Aelsmeer to share the expertise it has developed over five decades of service.
