Zornheym releases new symphonic metal album ‘Descending Into Madness’

Swedish symphonic metal project Zornheym has released their new studio album, ‘Descending Into Madness’, via Noble Demon. Founded in Stockholm by multi-instrumentalist Zorn, the band focuses on a multi-media concept that integrates music, narrative, and visual storytelling.

The new album serves as a prequel to the band’s established narrative universe centered around the mysterious Zornheim psychiatric asylum. This storyline, which began with their 2017 debut, explores the history of the institution through music, graphic novels, and short-film style music videos. The musical style blends heavy metal and melodic death metal with cinematic orchestration, featuring elements such as choral arrangements and varied vocal styles.

While the project is noted for its epic scale and stylistic diversity, some critiques suggest the compositions can occasionally become overloaded by their own symphonic ambitions.
