Zottegem to host inaugural Emergency Services Day

On September 13, emergency services in Zottegem will host the first ‘Dag van de Hulpdiensten’ (Emergency Services Day). The event features the police, fire department, and AZ Sint-Elisabeth hospital, providing a behind-the-scenes look at how these organizations collaborate during emergencies.

Activities scheduled at the Meengracht site include demonstrations of vehicle fire simulations, horizontal evacuations using a new ladder truck, and rescue operations for traffic accidents. The police will demonstrate the use of drones, dual-purpose dogs, and violence management techniques, alongside tours of the police station and cell complex. The event also focuses on prevention and recruitment, offering information on fire prevention, emergency planning, and crisis volunteering.
