Zárate Mayor Marcelo Matzkin uses wrong historical figure in tribute
Marcelo Matzkin, the mayor of Zárate, Argentina, drew social media attention after posting an incorrect image during a tribute to General José de San Martín. On the anniversary of San Martín’s death, Matzkin shared a message on Instagram regarding national sovereignty and freedom, but accompanied the text with an illustration of Manuel Belgrano instead of San Martín.
Following criticism from users, Matzkin addressed the error in a subsequent post. He attributed the mistake to his own poor eyesight and what he described as “bad advice from Google,” while also noting the confusion caused by the white horse in the illustration. The incident has since become a viral topic on social media.
